Festival Johann Sebastian Bach – Slovensko 2005

The Cancer Research Foundation will be an important part of the festival Johann Sebastian Bach – Slovakia 2005. Part of the revenue from ticket sales and all the revenue from voluntary collections during the concerts will be dedicated to the purchase of the Pulsed Field Electrophoresis.

This equipment makes it possible to monitor the state of chromosomes and to assess the level of their damage and possibility of reconstruction on the DNA level. This machine can be used in the research for monitoring the processes of apoptosis (cellular death) and reconstruction of fissures (the most serious damage) in DNA that are directly related to the oncogenic processes. It is similarly important for applied oncological research where it is used for testing antineoplastic medication.

Price of the equpiment: 1.250.000.- Sk (approximately 43 thousand U.S. dollars)
